SORTING YOUR ADMIN OUT!

Urgh, we all have to do it, and most of us put it off, but it needs to be done… it’s a five letter word… ADMIN!

Whether it’s sorting your digital or physical filing, responding to those non-urgent emails, or setting up diary appointments; we can all feel reluctant and want to continue putting off these often mundane tasks.

The big admin spring clean!

The time to sort your admin is now, and here’s why:

  • Free up brain space – think of all that time you’ve wasted procrastinating about sorting out your admin. Just getting it done will free up brain space for more important things.
  • Reduce your worry plate – if you’re prone to worrying about things, then having a pile of admin hanging over you may fill you with dread. This is needless worry that can be instantly resolved with action!
  • Clears your focus – if you’re not being distracted by the little things – you can focus on your big (and probably more fun) projects.

But how I do this, you might be wondering. Well, wonder no more… here are my tips for sorting your admin out (if you don’t have the luxury of outsourcing!):

  • Make a list – for me, every productive activity starts with a list – what do I need to get done and what order I need to get them done in
  • Start tough – once you have written your list start with the most difficult task. Yes, jump in the deep end. You’ll tackle the tough task, and then everything else will be all the more easy for it.
  • Make it bite sized - Don’t overwhelm yourself, break each task into stages and just keep working through those stages. This can make even the most daunting task more mentally manageable.
  • Take a break – Make sure you allow yourself regular breaks when working through your admin tasks. But be strict, or you’ll end up in the procrastination zone again. Stopping to refuel with a brew or a short walk can reenergise you for the next task.
  • Make it regular – if you find that your admin tasks pile up on you. Set time in your diary each week so that you can keep on top of them and not let them build up again.

It’s all about planning – and if you need help with that, you know who to call… Make Me A Plan of Course!
